Drywall is very expensive and can become costly if not done properly. Use a construction blade with a shape tip. Place the dry wall on the floor and use a metal straight edge. Place the blade and push it into the dry wall. Use enough force and slice through the dry wall. You do not necessary need to cut the dry wall all the way. The dry wall is easy to break, so once you have made the cut, snap the dry wall in its shape.
How to hold the blade for better cutting
Hold your hand on the end of the cutter away from the blade. Make a fist like position with your thumb right above the grip end of it. When cutting for a straight cut, push the blade right above it, when cutting side way go from one left to right, or right to left. This cutting style is perfect when one wants to learn how to patch drywall.
Different types of drywall cutter
There are different types of drywall cutter. Some can cut both sides of drywall and some can scored a piece of a drywall. The cutter should be able to cut a depth of 3/8″, 1/2″, and 5/8″ of drywall.The cutter should be able to adjust the width of the cut.
